Available for single and double-flap models across multiple Hale pet door installations—including doors, walls, panels, sash windows, screens, and single-pane through-glass doors—these replacement flaps offer a straightforward upgrade. 

For a single flap Door, Wall, Panel and Sash models: you will need to choose the outside mount version in the menu.

For double flap Door, Wall, Panel and Sash models: you can replace the inside and/or outside (or both), depending on which ones need replacing.

For Screen pet door models you will choose the inside mount.  

For Single pane Through Glass models you will choose the inside mount.  

If adding an extra flap to convert from a single flap to a double flap: you will need to order the inside mount.

Training flaps are intended for temporary use while the pet is getting used to their new door. We recommend these flaps for more timid, reluctant pets. Each one consists of thin vinyl strips with no real sealing capability. They are easier to use but should be replaced with a standard flap for better insulation performance when training is complete. They do not include any of the extra hardware that comes with standard flaps.

Installation is simple, with all necessary hardware included. Measure your current flap's outside frame to confirm sizing, or contact customer service for a custom-fit option. Replacing a worn flap is an easy way to maintain your pet door’s performance while ensuring your home stays comfortable and secure.

Parts

  • Replacement black nylon weather-stripping
  • Replacement magnets (number depends on flap size ordered)

Step 1 Remove the Old Flap

  • Remove the screws at the top of the old flap and pull down on the flap to remove it from the frame.

Step 2 Replace the Weatherstripping

  • While the flap is out, replace the black weather-stripping if needed. Grasp the old weather-stripping by the aluminum holder with a pair of pliers.
  • Wiggle the pliers a little to loosen the holder and pull it out.
  • Alternately, you can use a mallet and screwdriver to tap the weather-stripping out of the frame.
  • Place the new piece of weather-stripping in the channel and tap in with a screwdriver handle.

Step 3 Replace the Magnets

  • The magnets are pressure fitted into the frame and can be replaced if necessary.
  • They are adjustable by prying out with a screwdriver or pliers or by tapping in with a standard screwdriver and mallet.
  • Replace magnets, if desired, and tap or twist into the proper position in relation to the flap.

Step 4 Insert the New Flap

  • Insert the new flap into the top channel where the old flap was removed.
  • The metal bar at the top should be facing the screw holes.
  • The metal bar is riveted to the flap. What look like screw holes on the metal bar are simply rivets. They are not meant to line up with the screw holes.

Step 5 Adjust Flap Alignment

  • Before drilling, adjust flap alignment so that the strikes align with the magnets and the flap is level and swings freely.

Step 6 Insert the Screws

  • Using the screw holes as a guide, drill a short distance into the metal bar on top of the new flap with the 7/64" drill bit.
  • Insert the new screws into the holes and tighten.

Warranty: Lifetime Frame Warranty / 10-Year Parts Warranty Including Flaps

Duration: Lifetime for frame and 10 years for parts including flaps.

Coverage:

  • Hale Pet Door products and components are guaranteed to be free from defects in materials and workmanship from the date of purchase.

  • Flaps are made from the best vinyl imported from France using Hale's custom chemical recipe.

  • Coverage percentages for parts (excluding frame) decreases by 20% every two years over a ten year period. 

  • Returns within 30 days due to dissatisfaction results in a full refund, but if the product is damaged upon return, only 50% credit is provided.

Exclusions:

  • Warranty does not include shipping to Hale Pet Door or field service labor.

  • Glass Breakage: 50% replacement cost in the first year if the glass breaks. No warranty on glass after the first year. Excludes in-glass models' glass.

  • Only 50% credit is provided towards the cost of a replacement Hale Pet Door if damaged due to no fault of Hale Pet Door (e.g., miscutting, mismeasuring) within 30 days of purchase.

I love the original doors

The original doors are great, but the replacement flaps that I received are about 1/4” too narrow and 1/4” too short. I now have gaps on the sides and bottom of door that will allow air and bugs in… these are in an outdoor kennel not on my house so not a great big deal but I was disappointed with the replacement flaps

Lasted less than a year, vinyl tore away from the frame at the top.

Perfect fit, great instructions, all the spare parts you could need.

This kit has everything you might need and is packaged well. The instructions are clear and easy-to-follow. The hardest part is getting your body down to the pet's level, but once there the installation wasn't terribly difficult. The appearance after replacing the flap is much improved, as is the insulation factor! I would have done this chore long ago, if I had known it was this easy.
