What’s Your Pet Owner Style?
There’s no doubt about it – we love our pets! From training them, to providing for them, we definitely develop a bond with our pets over the course of their lifetime. There are many different ways that we as pet parents show them love, resulting in many types of dog owners. We’ve managed to compile a list of the three general pet owner styles many people fall under. What kind of pet parent are you? And what are the types of dog parenting styles? Let’s see what your pet owner style says about you!
1. The “Laid-Back Pet Owners”
First up, this type of dog owner has very few demands of their pooch. Sure, their pet might make the occasional mess, or even get a little unruly, but the Laid-Back Lover meets these challenges with a calm and mellow disposition. They care less about having a purebred dog or even what type of dog breed they have and more on making sure their pet happy. There are not many instances of reprimand, and the Laid-Back Lover is generally happy in their pet-owner relationship. You might be a Laid-Back Pet Lover if:
- You have minimal expectations for your pet
- You live harmoniously with your pet
- You rarely grow frustrated with your dog's behavior
These owners are very loving, and tend to treat their pets like their own children. Having such a strong emotional connection, the Parental Pet People tend to allow more of their budget toward gifts and treats for their pet. They often run social media accounts that show off all the cute things their dogs do throughout the day. Don’t be shocked to find the Parent Pet Owner on the bed or furniture with their furry friend, as this owner style is much more likely to encourage these moments. Their bed is also the dog bed. You may see this a lot with cat owners. But that doesn't make you a crazy cat lady! You may be a dog parent if:
- Take your fur baby with you when traveling
- Allow/encourage your pet to join you on the bed/furniture
- Purchase your pet gifts frequently
These pet owners mean business! Professional Pet People incorporate many types of techniques and technology into making sure that their pets are quickly socialized. Often, you'll see them at your local dog park encouraging their dog to make friends with Great Danes and Terriers alike. The love for their pet is evident, but is most demonstrated through the sheer amount of time put into teaching and training. Really, they care a lot for their pet's well-being and they show it through extensive dog training courses and high-end pet stores. You might be a Professional Pet Person if:
- You socialized your pet very early on
- You make use of many technologies to train your pet
- You have many commands for your pet
