The new Staywell 500 Infra Red Cat Flap represents one of the  most technologically advanced electronic pet door on the market.

As with all other electronic or magnetic pet doors, this one controls in one direction only. It serves to limit who can come in but not who can go out.  Reversed installation (turning the pet door around so that it controls from the inside rather than from the outside) will void the warranty.

Your cat wears a battery powered infra-red 'key' on his collar which unlocks the pet door from a distance of about 6"-2'. (the distance depends upon how bright the sunlight is. The darker it is, the further away the key will activate the door).

Staywell provides one collar key with each pet door. If you order additional keys, you may choose their color and we will ensure that all keys match. These collar keys are water resistant; not water proof. Collar key battery is included.

The door includes a 4-way lock. 

Normal operation is expected to be about a year using 4 'AA' batteries (not included). The optional transformer allows for operation from house current with battery back-up.

Since this pet door is self-framing, it may be installed in any door including solid or hollow core, metal, insulation filled etc. Adjustment range for the self-framing feature is 0" to 2". Tunnel sections may be added one at a time as needed for installation in a wall.

Staywell believes that this pet door is suitable for cats to about 15 lbs. When used for a dog, we'd suggest shading that value back a bit. As always, please measure before purchase.
