| The
PetSafe Wall Kit for their Electronic Smart Door
simplifies installation of the Smart Door in a wall from
3
3/4" to 7" thick. Any time you install a dog door in a wall, it's
vital that the wall be "framed out" and caulked so that no water or
debris can find it's way inside your wall. Very serious problems
like dry rot, mold and insect infestation can result from
inattention to this point.
If you have the skills to
frame the wall yourself, that's fine and you can install any pet
door you like in your wall. However, even for the highly skilled,
it's easier to use a wall kit provided by the dog door company if
they make one. PetSafe does for their "Smart Door".
These wall kits are considerably more sophisticated--and
expensive--than usual. Instead of a simple pre-fabricated tunnel in four
sections, PetSafe has chosen to mold their tunnel kits which is a
very expensive approach. The resulting kits are, however, very nice
and easy to use. In addition, they have fewer seams to worry about
than the more common approach.
If you want an electronic dog door in a wall, we think this is
the best approach. |
