The Plexidor Electronic Motorized Dog Door
for Doors is the most recent entry in this highly
specialized pet door market.
Generally, we think there are only a few
good reasons for buying such a door:
- To let your pets come and
go while keeping out neighborhood pets or other
animals
- To keep one pet in, often
a cat, letting others out.
- To improve security at
least as much as locking a window does.
In addition to these there are a few less
common ones:
- To lock baby in while
letting the pets out
- To prevent the wind from
blowing open the pet door. Electronic pet doors are
wind-proof.
If none of these reasons fit you then we
suggest getting a manual pet door instead. It will be
simpler, less expensive and more reliable.
Having said all that, Plexidor has
developed a particularly impressive design for a motorized
dog door. First, and very significantly, the collar key is
actually an RFID chip--which you've probably heard about in
other applications like inventory control. This leading-edge
technology is passive, no batteries to fail just when you
need them, and an unlimited number of "combinations" for
unlocking the pet door. So you can have as many pets as you
like using the door and never have to worry about the
neighbors pets coming in your door.
Also, the RFID chip doesn't interfere with
your existing hidden fencing system or your alarm system and
nearby appliances won't set it off. It's waterproof,
shockproof and rugged. In the event
of a power failure, the pet door resets automatically so
there is no need to reprogram. |
