General Information About Pet Door
Replacement Flaps
|
If you need a replacement flap, locking cover or other part
for your pet door it is
vital that you order the correct brand. Brands are not
interchangeable even if the dimensions seem to match.
Use the flap dimension to select the correct size within the
brand only after the brand has been established.
Please note that the flap size
measurement--the opening actually available to the pet-- is usually a little
smaller than the complete flap dimension as there will usually be space at
the top of the flap to attach it to the pet door frame. Also, if you have
the correct brand, don't worry about the dimensions being slightly off. It's
common for customers and us to measure slightly differently.
If you know the brand or trade name, please select it from
the groups below. These links will take you directly to the
appropriate location in our secure on-line store where you
can place an order. One section may offer multiple sizes.
Some manufacturers have been quite prolific in their use of
trade names while others have been more restrained. However,
each group refers to just one line of flaps only in the
array of sizes shown.
If you're not sure of the brand -
Check the "Details" pages for identifying information that may help you to
be sure.
Hot Tip: Do you
find yourself replacing your flaps too often? Here's an
example of a
leaky flap
problem. Consider a 'high performance' pet door based upon
the new 'Endura' flap. You'll never need another one and
it's still flexible and safe. View the
Endura
Flap Story or visit the
complete product line.

If you are unable to identify the brand from
the information given, don't give up! Call our customer support staff
during regular business hours. Be sure to be close to the pet
door so you can answer our questions. Chances are we can identify the pet
door and that we will have the flap or parts that you need.
Important note: When measuring flap size, please measure the
opening available to the pet and nothing else! It is very easy to mistake,
for example, a medium for a large if you measure the pet door frame instead
of the flap dimension. If your flap has two parts--a center flap and a
u-shaped gasket piece--the flap opening is smaller in one direction than the
other. Measure the smaller dimension in that case. |
