General Information About
The Ideal Fast Fit Patio Panel
for Sliding Glass Doors

The Ideal Fast Fit Patio Pet Door Insert is a popular 'spring load' which requires no tools for installation (except for the included pin lock). Flaps are relatively light weight, clear flexible vinyl. Locking covers are plastic. Use a broomstick in the track to avoid having to drill a hole for the pin lock.

Glass is ¹/₈" clear tempered. Don't look for the "large" size; it's been discontinued by Ideal.

This pet door has lighter weight metal and glass and has a more limited adjustment range than the Quick Panel III but is less expensive. Be sure to carefully check your track height compared with 'Adjustment Range' to be sure of a fit.

There are quite a few details that might be important for you to think about in purchasing any panel pet door. Begin with 'Key Points' to get a quick overview of the most important issues. Frame thickness is ⁵/₈". Draft Stopper is included.

Hot Tip: Most, but not all, Ideal Patio Panels include a plastic frame immediately around the flap. On occasion these frames break. Don't buy a whole new patio pet door! We carry the replacement flap assembly (see below). But, If you happen to have metal framing immediately surrounding the flap, you'll probably only need a replacement flap. Be sure to get the 'Deluxe' version in that case.

Discrepancy in panel widths: Ideal "Fast Fit" panel pet doors are manufactured in Thailand today. However, for many years they were manufactured in the USA. As shown below, the two versions have different over-all widths even though flap dimensions are the same.

Outside keyed lock - Need to lock your slider after you as you leave the house? Get this keyed lock option for any Ideal Panel. Be sure to note whether your sliding glass door opens to the left or to the right when on the inside looking out when adding to your cart. $64 (not available separately) - 01RI96 Please note: Ideal considers these outside keyed locks to be custom orders and not returnable once built.
Height Extension - Any Ideal patio pet door may be fitted with a height extension panel. As you 'Add to Cart', be sure to specify the overall width of the panel and the height that you wish to add. Remember, you'll still have the spring loaded height adjustment mechanism which will give you 2¹/₂^" of adjustment range. 01RI97 Here's an example: Your track height measures 92" which doesn't match any of the stock Ideal sizes. The solution is a Regular panel and a height extension. The height extension dimension is found by subtracting 79" from 92" = 13". $64
