The
Hale Pet Door Screen Mount (formerly Hale Security Screen Mount)
pet door fastens across the bottom and up one side for a more
sturdy install than screen mounts supported by screen only. Unlike the Pride
pet door approach, the Hale is purpose-built for screen installations
only. No additional pet door must be purchased. The
flap is clear, flexible vinyl. No locking cover is included on the theory
that a locking cover might encourage the pet to paw and tear the screen in
an effort to get in. Close the sliding glass door instead.
We think that screen can be difficult to work with if you're not experienced
or don't have the proper tools. It might be best to take pet door and screen
to a screen repair shop for installation.
Hale Screen Mount pet doors are designed for installation
in screens that have framing up to a maximum thickness of
1/2". If your screen framing is
thicker than this, the factory can modify the framing to accommodate. In
that case, you must choose
- Which corner you will install it in at time of
purchase (the "handing").
- Whether your screen material is on the inside
or outside of the screen frame
After you "Buy Now" and "Add to Cart" you will have an
opportunity to specify ILO-L (inside looking out to left) or ILO-R (inside
looking out on right) and "inside" or "outside" for the location of the
screen on the frame.
If the thickness of your screen framing is
1/2" or less, you do not have to
specify the handing but please do still provide the frame thickness.
Hale suggests that their product not be used with screen
framing thinner than 3/8"
as it may not be sturdy enough to support the pet door especially in the
larger sizes.
Return Policy:
If the Hale Screen Door was modified to accommodate screen framing thicker
than 1/2"
then returns will be allowed a 50% credit toward the purchase of a different
Hale Pet Door. The Patio Pacific
normal return policy
applies in respect to time limits only. Otherwise, the normal
Hale return policy applies.
Choosing a flap size: Here are the
Hale recommendations. However, we suggest you do your own measuring as
suggested on our "Measure
Your Pet" page prior to making a decision.
All Hale pet doors come standard with "polar"
flaps--a vinyl that is more flexible in cold weather than "regular"

Very flexible 'training' flaps may be ordered for
pets who are initially resistant to pushing through the regular
flaps.
