Gun Dog House Door introduced the "Easy Dog
Door" and the "Easy Big Dog Pet Doors" to address two
problems with the original Gun Dog House Door and the Big Dog Door.
The first drawback is that they are quite loud in
use. The two frame sections slam together and both bang against the
wall.
A second problem is that the two dog doors are
relatively heavy and therefore difficult to use by small dogs and
cats.
The "Easy Dog Doors" consist of a 1/4" Plexiglas
free-swinging flap inside a welded aluminum frame. The hinges
are not spring-loaded and there are no magnets for closure. A
weighted bottom helps stand up to some wind.
The optional closing cover mounts on the opposite
side of the door or wall from the pet door (it will not install over
the pet door. A sturdy,
1/4" thick polypropylene panel slides down
provided aluminum channels over a 14" x 20" opening for the "Easy"
door or 18" x 28" for the "Easy Big" door .
If you want this locking cover to be proof against
someone lifting from the outside, drill a hole through the cover and
wall on the inside and insert a short dowel.
